Charles G. Guffey

Dr. Guffey brings more than 35 years experience in operations, engineering and consulting with large and small companies, domestic and international, with expertise in process, natural gas, refining and petroleum engineering in both operations and consulting.  His expertise ranges from the underground reservoirs through production, processing, refining and delivery of oil and gas downstream.

Dr. Guffey’s work experience includes:

  • Providing oil and gas reserve evaluations for large and small companies, both domestic and international.
  • Supplying audits and expert witness testimony for royalty payment disputes.
  • Conducting underground storage inventory certifications.
  • Preparing audits of operating and processing agreements for producers and working interest owners.
  • Completing process design of gas processing plants, dense-phase gas pipelines, offshore production facilities and crude oil stabilization and terminaling in the North Sea.
  • Developing a large gas production, gathering, processing and storage system for offshore Indonesia.
  • Providing due-diligence inspections for reserves and production facilities in Russia.
  • Carrying out small refinery economic evaluations and inspections.
  • Providing expert witness testimony in pipeline right-of-way disputes.

Dr. Guffey has held consulting positions with Miller and Lents, Ltd., Barnes and Click, Purvin and Gertz and operating positions with Exxon Corporation. He has also been on the faculty of Texas Tech and Texas A&M Universities. He holds chemical engineering degrees from Georgia Tech, Michigan and LSU. Dr. Guffey is a registered engineer in Texas and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers.

 



Gerhard H. Ohlhaver

Gerry Ohlhaver has worked in 52 countries and brings experienced senior leadership to the Zeus consulting team. He has been in supervisory charge of (or has directly led) projects in refining and allied fields with a total investment cost of some $12 billion. With more than 35 years of project execution and program management experience, he brings to Zeus expertise in Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis, gas separation, cryogenic systems, sulfur removal and other gas processing and monetization technologies, both proprietary and open art.

He started up and served as VP and general manager of Black & Veatch’s Houston business unit. Prior to that, as VP of international projects at B&V’s process division, he held overall responsibility for projects in the Middle East, South America and Europe. Before joining B&V, as VP of project management for ABB Lummus Global, Mr. Ohlhaver held principal responsibility for successful execution of domestic and international projects. Prior to that, as VP with The Badger Co., he directed ~ 930 home office engineering and design professionals and ~ 530 field workers concurrently. Before joining Badger, he worked for M.W. Kellogg on five continents.

Mr. Ohlhaver served as business advisor to the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, working in Sharjah, the UK and Taiwan on fertilizer industry developments in the UAE. He has (1) led multinational teams in Syria, the UK and the US in the development of associated natural gas beneficiation for the Suedi and Karatchok fields in Syria; (2) developed business plans for the French firm Coflexip’s penetration of the US market for large-diameter armored hose; (3) led an integrated client/contractor team in Uruguay and the US to assess a radical expansion of the Montevideo refinery operations for the Uruguayan National Petroleum Co.; and (4) provided process plant design advisory services to Design Power Inc. (a subsidiary of Nokia) on their artificial intelligence 3D software plant design optimization program.

Mr. Ohlhaver holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He has also completed coursework at New York University in the fields of Law and Business Administration.




Ed McGee

A professional engineer and manager with a broad international background encompassing more than 40 years in the energy industry, Mr. McGee brings managerial and hands-on consulting experience through the development and application of state-of-the-art quantitative planning, operating, and management techniques such as computer-based simulation and linear programming optimization. He has held executive positions in energy resource management, refinery scheduling, chemical development, worldwide consulting and business development. He has testified before a number of governmental agencies as an expert witness. Formerly, Mr. McGee was a Vice President/Director at Stone & Webster Management Consultants, Inc. and a Business Development Manager at Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. responsible for investments and feasibility studies for world-class chemical and refining complexes. Mr. McGee received both BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA in Quantitative Analysis from the University of Chicago. He has presented professional papers worldwide.



 

Don H. Coers

Don Coers brings a wealth of experience in both LNG and CNG marine shipping review and evaluation. As a consultant and advisor, he provides technical, contracting, project development, and regulatory services for CNG, as well as for LNG and other refrigerated gas production, transportation, storage and re-gasification terminal and transport applications. He has 40 years of experience associated with project development and economic/technical feasibility, contracting, regulatory approval, design & engineering, construction and operation of bulk storage terminals.

Mr. Coers is well known in LNG production, storage, transportation and re-gasification projects. He regularly provides public and private seminars to government and industry on LNG terminal and storage projects. He is a member of the NFPA 59A LNG safety standards committee.

Mr. Coers was employed at Chicago Bridge & Iron Company starting in 1965, where he managed and developed the company's technical competency and business strategy as a design and construction contractor for LNG, LPG, ammonia and other bulk storage terminals. During his work at CB&I, he also managed large complicated multi-national industrial and government projects.

He holds a BSME degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and an MSME from the University of Houston.

 



Felix de la Vega

Mr. de la Vega brings forty years of experience in process design and development, including twenty-nine years with KBR. He holds a BS in chemical engineering from Villanova University and an MS in chemical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. The majority of his career has involved process design. He also brings experience in startups and plant troubleshooting. His career in LNG and gas processing spans 33 years. Mr. De la Vega is experienced in cryogenic gas processing plants (LNG, NGL, LPG, H2, N2, etc.) as well as chemical and petrochemical units that include olefins and polymer plants. His scope of work includes managing LNG, oil and gas technology, feasibility and optimization studies, economic evaluations, computer simulations, process equipment specifications, control philosophy and review of output from general engineering.



Marie M. Naklie

Marie Naklie is a highly effective process engineering consultant with 35 years of extensive international and domestic oil & gas experience. She has a demonstrated knowledge of LNG, gas processing, field operations, and terminals from wellhead to market. Her proven expertise in troubleshooting, debottlenecking, and engineering training has resulted in a strong professional who can solve problems while training and mentoring others. She produces leading edge results and communicates effectively at all levels.

During her 28 years with Mobil Oil, she led a multi-discipline team to design a leading-edge floating LNG plant and is currently a worldwide expert on floating LNG production plants. She led a project to develop and certify a 20" cryogenic hose for offloading LNG from a floating terminal or liquefaction plant. She led a major debottlenecking effort for the Arun LNG Plant in Indonesia. She led a "problem gas" team to evaluate onshore and offshore stranded gas worldwide and develop gas monetization options, including methanol, CNG, power generation, and gas-to-liquids processes.

Ms. Naklie has debottlenecked offshore platforms in Norway, Nigeria, and the UK as well as numerous onshore gas plants. She works well with local engineers during the process to transfer the knowledge.

As a consultant, she has performed feasibility studies and cost benchmarking studies for both onshore and offshore liquefaction plants and LNG import terminals. She has performed all facets of a detailed feasibility study for a new LNG plant, including process simulations, equipment lists, manning, plot plans, costs, and shipping requirements. She has led floating LNG workshops and facility troubleshooting workshops.

Ms. Naklie holds a BS in chemical engineering from Mississippi State University. She was chairman of the North Texas Gas Processors Association in 1998 and Technical Committee Chairman of the GPA in 1999.

 



George A. (Andy) Malone

With more than 35 years of experience in the LNG industry, Mr. Malone brings to the Zeus team valuable expertise in managing, operating and maintaining LNG plants and fleets. Furthermore, his expertise includes design, installation, fabrication, compliance, safety and security. Having worked in one of the first three LNG plants to be built in modern times, Mr. Malone contributes seasoned, hands-on experience to client solutions.
